Collins Settlement Agreement Report Highlights MPD’s Significant Improvement
MILWAUKEE, WI – Today, the Crime and Justice Institute (CJI) released its Semiannual Analysis of Traffic Stops, Field Interviews, No-action Encounters, and Frisks. This report details the analysis of Milwaukee Police Department stops and frisks that took place between January 1, 2021 and June 30, 2021. During that same time period, MPD conducted in-service training for all of its sworn members related to compliance with the settlement agreement.
Acting Chief Jeffrey Norman has continued to stress that compliance with the settlement agreement and providing high quality constitutional policing is one of MPD’s highest priorities, along with addressing violent crime, reckless driving and stolen autos. The Milwaukee Police Department is grateful for CJI’s in-depth analysis as it helps inform the department of areas where it has succeeded and where it needs improvement. The department is committed to doing better in documenting the highly technical reporting requirements and continuing in these positive steps.
