New university president Lovell goes “On the Issues” at Marquette Law School
Marquette University President Michael R. Lovell will be the featured guest for an upcoming “On the Issues with Mike Gousha.”
MILWAUKEE – Marquette University President Michael R. Lovell will be the featured guest for an upcoming “On the Issues with Mike Gousha,” Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. at Marquette Law School’s Eckstein Hall, 1215 W. Michigan St.
Dr. Lovell is Marquette’s 24th president and the institution’s first lay president. Formerly the chancellor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Dr. Lovell took office July 1 and his inauguration will be held Sept. 19.
He arrives at an important moment in Marquette’s history, with higher education undergoing fundamental change and key administration positions to be filled. In this one-hour conversation, Dr. Lovell will talk about his decision to come to Marquette, his first two months on the job, the challenges facing the university and the opportunities he sees going forward.
Gousha, an award-winning television journalist, is a Distinguished Fellow in Law and Public Policy. His “On the Issues” series of conversations with newsmakers supports Marquette Law School’s commitment to serve as a modern-day public square for the city of Milwaukee, the state of Wisconsin and beyond.
Through the Marquette Law School Poll, debates featuring candidates in significant political races, public lectures by leading scholars and topical conferences — all open to the community — the Law School serves as a venue for serious civil discourse about law and public policy matters.
