CAVT Museums Executive Director John Sterr Resigning

John Sterr, Executive Director for the Charles Allis and Villa Terrace Art Museums, has notified the Museums’ Board of his resignation, effective July 23, 2021. Sterr is leaving the museums to pursue other opportunities.

“It has been an honor being part of these two important Milwaukee museums,” said Sterr, who has been serving in the position since 2014. “The organization and the Milwaukee community have been very good to me over the last seven years. I look forward to assisting the Board of Directors through this transition and I’m excited about the organization’s future.”

The Executive Committee of the Museum Board has already begun the first steps in recruiting Sterr’s successor. “During his tenure John has helped to sustain and improve the organization especially in light of the Covid pandemic.” said Mr. West. “He leaves a capable and dedicated team to continue the important work of stewarding the museums for the enrichment of the greater Milwaukee community.”
