Rep. Hintz: Statement on Federal FoodShare Funding Announcement

MADISON – Governor Tony Evers and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, announced an agreement that will ensure Wisconsin families continue to receive $70 million per month in additional federal FoodShare aid. Representative Gordon Hintz (D-Oshkosh) released the following statement:

“I applaud Governor Evers and the Biden administration for ensuring that 400,000 Wisconsin households facing food insecurity will not lose $70 million in federal food aid in the midst of a global pandemic. While legislative Republicans have consistently sought to undermine Wisconsin’s pandemic response efforts, including endangering federal food benefits for hungry kids and families, this announcement reflects the type of tireless leadership and determination that Wisconsinites should be able to count on during this challenging time.

“As we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic and to discuss bills and policies to support Wisconsin’s economic recovery, I hope legislative Republicans will stop playing games with the ability of families to feed their kids, and start working with Gov. Evers and legislative Democrats to move our state forward.”
