2021 Fresh Food Access Fund RFP, Program Guidelines Now Available

By - Mar 9th, 2021 02:05 pm

The City of Milwaukee has made available the Fresh Food Access Fund 2021 Request for Proposals (RFP), program guidelines and grant application for organizations who have or plan to implement programs in Milwaukee to enhance the access to fresh healthy food. Alderman Khalif J. Rainey, a champion for the creation of the Fresh Food Access Fund, advocated for $200,000 to be added to the fund via a 2021 budget amendment. The Alderman encourages interested applicants to attend the upcoming information sessions and apply for the grant.

“An important part of reducing poverty and health disparities in our community is addressing the food inequalities that exist. The data is clear that residents who lack access to healthy foods are at greater risk for higher rates of obesity, diabetes, heart disease and a host of other health consequences related to diet and nutrition,” said Alderman Rainey. “This is why the Fresh Food Access Fund is so vital, and I urge those who want to help address this issue to apply today.”

The City will hold two virtual application pre-submission informational meetings to discuss the RFP. Attendees are encouraged to register for the meeting in advance. The first informational session will take place Wednesday, March 10 at 6 p.m. To register please visit www.bit.ly/FFAFInfoW. The second information sessions will take place on Thursday, March 11 at 2 p.m. To register please visit www.bit.ly/FFAFInfoT.

All grant applications and associated materials are due by 4:00 pm CST Monday, April 5, 2021. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered. For additional information and application instructions, please visit www.milwaukee.gov/ffaf.
