Governor Tony Evers
P.O. Box 7863
Madison, WI 53707
DELIVERED ELECTRONICALLY

Dear Governor Evers:

I am reaching out to request that flags of the United States and Wisconsin be lowered to half-staff throughout the state in honor of Rush Limbaugh who died today at the age of 70 from complications from lung cancer. While some individuals may only see him as a popular radio host, he was a pioneer in talk radio, a best-selling author and a commentator who inspired generations to become active in politics. Since the late 1980s, Rush offered up political dialogue that helped generate a more robust debate of ideas at kitchen tables, classrooms and legislatures. His successful show also opened the door to more political talk show hosts on both sides of the aisle. No doubt, there are people who did not agree with him, but there is no question that he made a lasting impact on political discourse and conservativism in our nation.

According to published reports, Rush was honored by being inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame and the National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame. Most recently, he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

In closing, I invite you to join our country in sending condolences to Rush Limbaugh’s family and friends by lowering the flags to half-staff at all buildings, ground and military installations across the Badger State in his honor. It would be a show of respect and bipartisanship when so many in our state and nation mourn the loss of this historic figure in American politics.

Sincerely,

Representative Robin J. Vos
Assembly Speaker

    Dear Robin J. Vos,
I am reaching out to request that in your request to Gov. Evers you change the last word in the body of the letter to “show business”.

  3. Douglas Johnson says:

Honors such as lowering the flag, medals and other such honorariums are for people who truly have made significant contributions. How you can even think Limbaugh made any such contribution is beyond rational thinking. There is absolutely no need to go into the litany of reasons why he does not deserve such recognition as there is not enough room in this response to go into detail. You debase such honors by recommending him.

  4. mkeumkenews09 says:

Honestly thought this was a joke when I first heard it.

Maybe Vos is just trying to “gaslight” the Libs. Obviously this would be way more important, than helping the citizens of Wisconsin during a pandemic and resultant economic catastrophe. He truly doesn’t have a clue about governing.

Do people really, actually vote for this guy?

  5. Thomas Martinsen says:

Rush was an entertainer who thrived on dismissing people and ideals. Our flag should not be lowered in his honor. Flag burning would be more appropriate to recognize his demise. .
