MADISON – This week, The New York Times reported that the Chair of the Wisconsin Elections Commission has received threats regarding the certification of Wisconsin’s election results from November. State Representative Robyn Vining (D-Wauwatosa) issued the following statement in response:

“It appears we in Wisconsin have found ourselves in a place that we must make absolutely clear the following: threats against election officials, and their families, are extremely dangerous.

“There is no gray area — no Wisconsinite should threaten an election official, or her family, and every elected official across this state should speak out in unison to protect our election officials, as they protect our democracy.

“Election officials at every level, from clerks to poll workers to commission members, do the hard but necessary work of keeping our representative democracy strong, and ensure the people’s voices are heard. Any threat against them and their work is any attempt to silence the will of the people.”

Rep. Vining represents the 14th Assembly District, which includes parts of Brookfield, Wauwatosa, and Milwaukee. For more information, visit Rep. Vining’s website here
