Milwaukee, WI (November 21, 2020) On Friday, November 20th at approximately 8:20 p.m., a Milwaukee County Sheriff‘s deputy observed a blue Nissan Altima traveling southbound on I-894, weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed, passing his unmarked squad. When the deputy caught up to the vehicle at Oklahoma Ave., an occupant in the vehicle fired gunshots at his squad. The Nissan exited the freeway at Moreland Rd., still refusing to stop until it reached a dead-end, crashed and started to burn.

The occupants fled on foot from the scene and hid in a wooded area. The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, New Berlin Police Department, West Allis Police Department, and Greenfield Police Department set up a perimeter near the crash scene.   Deputies arrested one suspect behind a residence near the crash site, and the West Allis Police Department K-9 unit located and arrested the second suspect. The third occupant was later arrested by New Berlin Police Department.

Both suspects are being held on parole violations with criminal charges pending. One suspect was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries.

MCSO initiated a full freeway closure of southbound I-894 at Oklahoma to investigate the shots fired incident at 8:50 p.m. and reopened at 10:40 p.m.

There were no injuries during the shots fired incident to the deputy. This investigation is ongoing.
