MPD Implements the Reckless Driving Reduction Initiative to Combat Reckless Driving
To reduce the amount of reckless driving, speeding and vehicular crashes from occurring in the City of Milwaukee, the Milwaukee Police Department, Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Wisconsin State Patrol are working together to increase traffic enforcement.
The Reckless Driving Reduction Initiative (RDRI) will begin on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, for its third year in a row, and will focus on geographic locations where data has shown significant increases in traffic crashes and traffic fatalities.
Over the course of the next several weeks, MPD will implement multiple traffic enforcement operations to address motorists who speed, drive under the influence and drive recklessly while placing the lives of others in danger.
Law enforcement cannot combat this issue alone. We all play an important role to ending reckless driving; therefore, we are asking that our residents and community partners discuss the dangers of reckless driving with their peers and acquaintances to discourage them from engaging in this type of activity in our city.
