MEDIA ADVISORY – Alderwoman Coggs hosting Black History Month Read-In tomorrow
5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19
In honor of Black History Month, and in recognition of the 25th National African-American Read-In, Adlerwoman Milele A. Coggs is sponsoring a Read-In At Martin Luther King Library, 310 W Locust St., tomorrow evening from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. The goal is to make the celebration of African American literacy a traditional part of Black History Month activities.
Alderwoman Coggs will be joined by City Treasurer Spencer Coggs, Milwaukee County Supervisor Khalif Rainey, Peace for Change Alliance, Inc. President Tracey Dent and other community leaders, who will read children’s books by and about African-Americans. Parents are invited to bring their children. There will be giveaways and light refreshments.
The event is free and open to the public.
