Currently No Plans to Cancel St. Patrick’s Day Parade in downtown Milwaukee on March 14

Westown Association and the Shamrock Club of Wisconsin are closely monitoring the situation

MILWAUKEE – The Shamrock Club of Wisconsin and Westown Association, who partner to organize Milwaukee’s largest St. Patrick’s Day celebration, the Shamrock Club of Wisconsin St. Patrick’s Day Parade, announced there are no plans to cancel the event scheduled for Saturday, March 14 at noon in downtown Milwaukee due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Parade organizers are closely monitoring the situation and will follow at the direction of the Milwaukee Health Department and Center for Disease Control as the situation continues to evolve locally. At the time of this announcement, there are no confirmed cases of the virus in Milwaukee County.

“We are staying in contact with the Milwaukee Health Department about the Coronavirus and possible impact on the St. Patrick’s Day Parade,” said Stacie Callies, Executive Director of Westown Association, “At this time there are no plans to cancel the parade, but the health and safety of our patrons is a priority. We encourage anyone that suspects they might be sick to forgo any of the parade-related activities this week just as they would for any type of illness.”

The remaining schedule of parade festivities is as follows:

  • Lunchtime Entertainment: Thurs., March 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Avenue/Stone Creek Skywalk, 275 W Wisconsin Ave.
  • Parade Press Conference & Entertainment: Fri., March 13 at noon at The Avenue/Plankinton Clover Apartments, 161 W Wisconsin Ave., Second Floor
  • ShamROCK Kick Off Party: Fri., March 13 at 5:30 to 11 p.m. at Miller Time Pub, 509 W Wisconsin Ave.
    • This FREE event will have live music, food & drinks specials and a variety of raffle prizes available. You won’t want to miss out on the fun!
    • 5:30 p.m. – Performance by Frogwater
    • 7:30 p.m. – Announcement of raffle winners. Tickets will be sold during the event. See the list of raffle prizes here; more items are added daily.
    • 8 p.m. – Performance by Pat McCurdy
  • 35th Annual Mass in Honor of St. Patrick: Sat., March 14 at 8:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 723 W Washington St.
  • 54th Annual Shamrock Club of Wisconsin St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Sat., March 14 at noon
    • Celebrate along the parade route at the bars and restaurants on Old World Third Street and Water Street
  • Shamrock Club Post-Parade Party: Sat., March 14 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Irish Cultural & Heritage Center, 2133 W Wisconsin Ave.
    • The fun doesn’t stop after the parade! Celebrate 60 years of the Shamrock Club of Wisconsin with Irish entertainment for the entire family. It’s the most Irish thing you can do!
    • Adults (over 12): $8.00; Family (3 or more adults): $20

Presented by Miller Lite, the parade steps off at Old World Third Street and Wisconsin Avenue ending at Water Street and Highland Avenue. This year’s parade will feature over 120 units including Irish dance groups, pipe and drum corps, local celebrities and dignitaries and much more. The Milwaukee St. Patrick’s Day Parade is one of the oldest and longest running St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in the nation, dating back to 1843. The Shamrock Club of Wisconsin has produced the parade since 1967 and has been in partnership with Westown Association since 2002.
