Prayers for five-year-old-girl wounded in road rage confrontation

Statement from Alderman Rainey July 26, 2019

By - Jul 26th, 2019 03:22 pm

I offer my prayers to the family of the five-year-old-girl who was shot and wounded in a road rage conflict Thursday morning (July 25) in the 3400 block of N. 44th St. I’m thankful that she has been treated and released from the hospital, but further incidents like this are unacceptable, and we must strive for change in our community.

The shooting represents the second time within the last 12 days that a child has been wounded or killed in a road rage confrontation in the 7th District. These acts of gun violence are senseless, and have brought unnecessary suffering to the affected children and families. I plead with all Milwaukee residents to stay calm on the roads and think about the potential consequences of their actions.

I’m grateful that the Milwaukee Police Department has arrested the individual they believe to be responsible for the shooting. I also urge all residents of the 7th District and the greater Milwaukee community to offer support for the wounded girl and her family.
