Supervisor Moore Omokunde Calls for Joint City-County Effort on Climate and Economy
"Some of the challenges we face economically can be solved by addressing our challenges with climate change."
MILWAUKEE – County Supervisor Supreme Moore Omokunde testified before the Milwaukee Common Council’s Steering and Rules Committee last week in support of a joint City-County task force on Climate Change and Economic Equity.
“The effects of climate change have been well documented via the Paris Accord and the Green New Deal. We need to view the effects of economic inequity the same way. Some of the challenges we face economically can be solved by addressing our challenges with climate change,” Moore Omokunde said.
Moore Omokunde was joined by Citizen Action of Wisconsin, the Sierra Club, and Allies-350 in support of the “100% Just” resolution that was cosponsored by all members of the Steering and Rules Committee.
At Milwaukee County, Supervisor Moore Omokunde is drafting a companion resolution that is expected to come before a committee of the County Board during the July cycle.
