Waukesha Rotary BluesFest Announces Full 2019 Lineup

WAUKESHA, WI – April 16, 2019 – Waukesha Rotary BluesFest, “An American Music and Art Festival,” presented by the Waukesha Rotary Club, will be held Friday and Saturday, August 9 and 10, 2019 at Naga-Waukee Park in Delafield, located 1/2 mile north of I-94 on STH 83.  Gates open at 12:30 pm both days with the music running from 1:00 pm until 10:00 pm each day.

The headliner on Friday, August 9th at Waukesha Rotary BluesFest is Joanne Shaw Taylor, the girl with the big voice from the Black Country in England.  She established herself as the UK’s number one star of the blues rock world with her fiery guitar chops and powerful voice ever since she was noticed by Dave Stewart of The Eurythmics in 2002 at the age of just 16 years old.  Then on Saturday, August 10th, The Fabulous Thunderbirds will be the featured headliners at Waukesha Rotary BluesFest.  Best known for their 80’s hits “Tuff Enuff” and “Wrap It Up,” The Fabulous Thunderbirds have been delivering high energy Texas blues for close to four decades.  Co-founder, vocalist and harmonica player Kim Wilson, still spearheads the group.

Also featured on Friday night will be an array of Chicago Blues Legends led by Maurice John Vaughn with guests Shirley Johnson, Freddie Dixon and Joseph Morganfield.  Rounding out the Friday lineup is Jennie DeVoe from Indianapolis, Milwaukee area bands DJ and The Bluesers and Derringer and a finalist band from the ROCKONSIN 2019 Youth Garage Band Competition.  Saturday’s line-up includes North Mississippi Hill Country Blues artist Robert Kimbrough Sr., the youngest son of Junior Kimbrough, Milwaukee based bands Alex Wilson, The Incorruptibles and the Andrew Gelles Band along with Chicago’s Paul Kaye opening the stage on Saturday.

Advance tickets for Waukesha Rotary BluesFest are now on sale at the discounted advance price of just $20 for one-day tickets and $35 for two-day tickets.  Prices will increase leading up to the festival with prices at the gate set at $28 for a one-day ticket and $50 for a two-day ticket.  Park admission fees, vehicle parking and sales tax are included in the ticket prices.  Children age 8 and under are free with a paying adult.  Tickets are available at www.waukeshabluesfest.com.  Tickets are also available in person through August 8th at Almont Gallery in downtown Waukesha, all Waukesha State Bank locations, and all White House of Music locations, and yes, you can purchase tickets at the gate during the festival.

Once again this year, Waukesha Rotary BluesFest is offering an “Elite Experience” seating option which will provide true music fans a front and center reserved seat.  These reserved seats are numbered and issued on a first come basis, and must be purchased separately for each day.  The tickets also include admission to the grounds, parking, sales tax, two complimentary beverages and a souvenir festival art poster which can be obtained at the Merchandise Tent.  Elite Experience tickets will be available for the advance price of $60 for each day and are on sale now.  Only a limited number of Elite Tickets will be available. The price at the gate, if any Elite tickets are still available, will be $70 per day.

In addition to the great line-up of live music, Waukesha Rotary BluesFest features an exceptional selection of food from popular local restaurants, a full selection of beverages for all tastes and an Art Show featuring regional and locally known artists.

Proceeds from Waukesha Rotary BluesFest go back into the community through the Waukesha Rotary Club Charitable Fund, Inc. a recognized 501(c)(3) charitable organization. The Waukesha Rotary Club Charitable Fund places highest priority on projects in the following areas:

  • Arts and culture
  • Basic needs, such as food, clothing and shelter
  • Children, youth and families
  • Reducing isolation of the elderly and maintaining independent living for them
  • Employment and training
  • Educational enrichment activities beyond the core curriculum
  • Environmental conservation, restoration and education
  • Assisting individuals who lack basic access to health care
  • Assisting persons with physical or mental disabilities, including addictions
