DBE subcontractors announced for I-94 North-South Project final segment

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is finalizing the contract on the I-94 North-South Project northern segment from County G in Racine County to College Avenue in Milwaukee County.

Walsh Construction Company from Chicago, Illinois has identified the following DBE subcontractors to work on this project:

The Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) goal is 10% of the $161.6 million contract. More announcements will be made as additional subcontractors join the project.

Walsh Construction Company has worked on several complex projects in the state of Wisconsin. Walsh is the prime contractor on the Zoo Interchange Core II project which will be completed this summer. Walsh was also one of the prime contractors on the original I-94 mainline project in Kenosha County in 2011.

Work is expected to begin early September to reconstruct and expand 7.5-miles of freeway, reconstruct the interchange at 7 Mile Road and construct a new interchange at Elm Road. Other work includes drainage, grading, paving, traffic signals and structures.

Wisconsin communities across the state are engaging in the economic opportunities from advancing the I-94 North-South project and the Wisconn Valley development roads. This infrastructure supports the thriving corridor as multiple businesses like Amazon, Uline, Haribo and others are locating or expanding in the region.

Shippers and manufacturers move over $90 billion in goods along this corridor every year. We’re accelerating road construction work to ensure the freeway and local roads continue to support the rapid growth that is occurring across the corridor. Currently, construction contractors in Dodge, Jackson, Marathon, Outagamie and Wood counties, to name a few, have already received contracts during this construction phase.

This is the last I-94 mainline contract to be awarded.
