Senator Taylor Respondes to Milwaukee Brewer Josh Hader’s Offensive Tweets

"The ten-year old social media posts that have recently surfaced by Josh Hader are incredibly offensive."

(MADISON) — Yesterday, a series of offensive tweets by Milwaukee Brewer Josh Hader were recently uncovered. Senator Lena Taylor (D-Milwaukee) released the following statement upon learning about these tweets:

“The ten-year old social media posts that have recently surfaced by Josh Hader are incredibly offensive. I recognize that Josh has apologized for his actions and stressed that those past tweets do not reflect his current beliefs.

As with Donte DiVincenzo, who had questionable posts written when he was 14 years old, we are asked to remember that Hader was a teen when these things were said. However, the irony of Colin Kapernick–who said nothing inappropriate–being kept off the field for raising issues of race and inhumane treatment is not lost on me or many in the community. The contrast between losing your career for speaking a peaceful truth to race relations and receiving sensitivity training for racially incendiary language is glaring.

This is a teachable moment for all of us. In Hader’s case, these vile attitudes came from somewhere…he heard them or learned them somewhere. I’m glad to see the Brewers respond in a way that incorporates education and awareness of these issues.”

But it is perfectly okay for you to refer to another African-American in their place of work as a “perfectly good house N-word”.

Certainly, not defending anything Hader said–those things should never come out of someone’s mouth, but I love the convenience politicians like Lena have in situations like this, criticizing other’s actions or words when they too have acted the very same way.

Too rich coming from you, Lena!

    What a joke!

  2. Steve P says:

Joe you just stole my thunder!Lena Taylor’s press release only demonstrates her own hypocrisy!I Too don’t defend Hader’s comments either and he admits he was young and stupid and in this day and age of social media he should have watched what he posted. One can not say the vulgar “N” word even if they are quoting someone else who said it many years ago while condemning racism and that is a businessman who started a Pizza chain 34 years ago knocking down a broom closet in his father’s Bar and turning into one of the largest carry out or delivery Pizza Chains in the World.Papa John’s website will no longer mention the founder’s name anymore. We all should be judged by our character and not our skin color.I guess politicians like Lena Taylor like playing and race card.
