Free Entertainment Returns to the Marcus Center’s Peck Pavilion on July 5-August 25

Shakespeare in the Park continues this summer!

MILWAUKEE, WI (Wednesday, May 30, 2018) – Live @ Peck Pavilion returns to the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts grounds this summer. The season will run from July 5 through August 25 with each day of the series featuring a different program focus. Optimist Theatre: Shakespeare in the Park returns Peck Pavilion from July 5-21 with their presentation of King Lear featuring local favorite Jim Pickering in the title role. New to Live at Peck this year is Tribute Band Thursday. All events in Peck Pavilion are free and open to the public.

Live @ Peck Pavilion will feature the following:

Sunday Afternoon Concerts at 2 pm: This season includes:

July 22- Founded in 1985, Milwaukee Festival Brass is an exciting brass ensemble made up of volunteer brass and percussion players from all walks of life, both young and old from all over Southeastern Wisconsin.

July 29-Kids From Wisconsin is showcasing the most talented youth in a full musical revue for all ages, consisting of 20 singer/dancers and a 13 piece show band performing inspiring, entertaining musical productions to over 100,000 people each summer.

August 5-The Hartland Community Band provides an opportunity for individual musical expression and growth. They are committed to the best quality of performance possible, providing music that is challenging and rewarding for all players. They strive to perform music for audiences that creates a sense of community.

August 12- The mission of 484th Army Reserve Band is to provide music throughout the spectrum of military operations to instill in our soldiers the will to fight and win, foster the support of our citizens, and promote our national interests at home and abroad.

August 19-The Milwaukee Police Band is the oldest Police Band in America. Since it’s first concert on April 9, 1898 the group has continued to perform making it the oldest police band in America! They cherish the opportunity they have been given to do their part in contributing to the quality of life in this fine community.

Tuesday Evening DanceMKE: DanceMKE is a returning weekly dance competition featuring Milwaukee dance artists from any discipline. Selected performance groups will dance for cash, trophies and glory over three consecutive weeks July 31, August 7 and 14 with the finals on August 21. Registration for dancers is open at MarcusCenter.org/DanceMKE.

Thursday Lunch Concerts: Noon performances for the downtown lunch crowd featuring:

August 2- Eagle Trace is an alternative rock band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Originating from New Berlin, Wis. Eagle Trace proves to be one of the most anticipated new artists out of the Midwest. With infectious, alternative rhythms, Eagle Trace is sure to leave you wanting more.

August 9-New Age Narcissism (NAN) is a creative group embodying self-expression through music, film, and performance.

August 16-The Extra Crispy Brass Band (EC Brass Band or ECBB) plays New Orleans-style brass band music inspired by the great contemporary bands such as the Dirty Dozen, Hot Eight, Rebirth, and New Birth Brass Bands as well as traditional outfits such as the Olympia and Mahogany Brass Bands.

August 23-The WhiskeyBelles is not your typical Milwaukee band. Not even taking into account the band’s entirely female populace, the outfit expertly toes the line of talented original act and more than capable cover band.

Tribute Band Thursday: A new night of performances beginning at 7 pm featuring performances by some of the best tribute bands in the Midwest. Relive your favorite musical memories with Tribute Band Thursday!

August 2- U2Zoo. is a tribute to the super band U2. Since 2003, the band has headlined many of the largest festivals and corporate events around the country. The band’s high energy and professional focus tackle the complete U2 concert catalog of hits and rare fan favorites.

August 9 – Let’s Get It On Milwaukee: A Marvin Gaye Tribute. This high energy soulful tribute will keep you on your feet for an unforgettable summer night. Joe Jordan along with some of Milwaukee’s finest musicians and singers will put you in the Marvin Gaye spirit. Marvin Gaye’s London Platinum 1976 Show is the inspiration and the performance will also feature some special Motown music.

August 16 – Hair Band Night. A live band event, bringing you the best of the 80’s hair band era like you have never heard before!

August 23- The Boy Band Night. brings America’s only live tribute to pop sensations like The Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, New Kids On The Block, Boys II Men, One Direction, and many more!

Peck Flicks on Friday Nights:  Movies start at 7:15 pm and pre show festivities start at 6:45 pm. The movie series continues with screenings of:

July 27- Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas.  On the outskirts of Whoville, there lives a green, revenge-seeking Grinch who plans on ruining the Christmas holiday for all of the citizens of the town.

August 3: Batman (1989 Version). The Dark Knight of Gotham City begins his war on crime with his first major enemy being the clownishly homicidal Joker.

August 17- Mean Girls.  Cady Heron is a hit with The Plastics, the A-list girl clique at her new school, until she makes the mistake of falling for Aaron Samuels, the ex-boyfriend of alpha Plastic Regina George.

August 24th- Under Water Double Feature!
Movie 1: The Little Mermaid.  A mermaid princess makes a Faustian bargain with an unscrupulous sea-witch in order to meet a human prince on land.
Movie 2: Jaws: A local sheriff, a marine biologist and an old seafarer team up to hunt down a great white shark wreaking havoc in a beach resort.

Celebrate the close of the Live at Peck Pavilion series on Saturday, August 25 from 2 pm-10 pm with a celebration of the music, food and culture of the Caribbean Islands. Featuring international artists Adonis Puentes and the Voice of Cuba Orchestra as well as local favorites De La Buena, the day will feature kids activities, art vendors and more!

Marcus Center’s Peck Pavilion features fixed seats in a covered pavilion along the beautiful Milwaukee Riverwalk. Events are presented rain or shine.

More details for all the events for the Live @ Peck Pavilion series are available at www.MarcusCenter.org. All performances are free and open to the public. Food and beverage will be available for purchase for all events from Sazama’s River’s Edge Patio. No carry in food or beverages are allowed.
