"We cannot allow those who terrorize our kids to hide behind unjust laws."

MADISON – Today, State Superintendent of Schools and Democratic Candidate for Governor Tony Evers pledged to sign the Child Victims Act into law, if elected Governor.

The Child Victims Act eliminates the civil statute of limitations on child sex abuse in Wisconsin and allows a three-year window in which victims barred by the current statutes could file civil suits.

“As educators, we not only help our students in the classroom, but all too often provide these kids with needed emotional support. I’ve spent my entire career helping our kids succeed and it’s one of the reasons I chose to run for Governor.

“That’s why I stand with the Women’s March Wisconsin and pledge to sign the Child Victims Act which allows some of our most vulnerable to seek the justice they deserve.  We cannot allow those who terrorize our kids to hide behind unjust laws,” Evers said.
