5th Annual Sock Drive Event Features Music, Basketball and Fun
Alderman Stamper said the sock drive goal this year is 1,000 pairs of socks
Alderman Russell W. Stamper, II will host the 5th Annual Sock Drive Basketball Tournament tomorrow (Saturday, February 3) at the Northside YMCA, 1350 W. North Ave.
Alderman Stamper will be joined by representatives of the Running Rebels, who will be providing music, as well as a live podcast provided by The Mogul Lounge. The event starts at 1 p.m. and admission is $5 or a donation of brand new socks.
Alderman Stamper said the sock drive goal this year is 1,000 pairs of socks. “Everyone needs a warm pair of socks – especially on a frigid day like today,” he said. “But the reality is that there are too many families who are struggling to keep their kids properly clothed. Every donation of socks will go to help families in need, so please attend tomorrow’s event or place a new pair of socks in one of our Sock Drive bins.” Sock Drive collection bins will be located in City Hall (200 E. Wells St.) and at locations across the city.
“And for those who love basketball, please come tomorrow and cheer one of your favorite teams to victory (M.C.K.L.-North Division, Running Rebels, M.C.K.L.-South Division and Brownstone),” the alderman said.
Event sponsors include the Milwaukee Bucks, The Northside YMCA, Running Rebels, Brownstone, M2, M.C.K.L.-North, and M.C.K.L.-South.
