Governor Walker Removes Restrictions on Propane Transporters to Alleviate Propane Shortages

The order comes in response to propane shortages and increased wait times to obtain propane in southern Wisconsin.

MADISON – Governor Scott Walker issued Executive Order #263 exempting drivers of commercial motor vehicles transporting propane from federal and Wisconsin hours-of-service requirements. The order comes in response to propane shortages and increased wait times to obtain propane in southern Wisconsin, and the state as a whole, due to the closure for maintenance of the Rockford, Illinois propane terminal. The exemption applies to all highways in Wisconsin, including the national system of interstate and defense highways.

“More than 250,000 Wisconsinites depend on propane as both an energy supply and a heat source in cold weather,” said Governor Walker. “By exempting propane transporters from hours-of-service requirements, we’ll decrease wait times and backups and ensure people receive this critical resource safely and efficiently.”

  1. Rita says:

The answer to is not to remove safety restrictions!! Get more drivers. Any rational person knows that. Why respond this way?

  2. will says:

Gee, don’t see a catastrophic accident happening here. Another backwards thinking GOP idea.
