Cathy Myers Slams Paul Ryan’s Tax Reform Plan
Ryan Challenger calls tax proposal “an unprecedented corporate handout”
Today, Paul Ryan announced his tax reform proposal, which drastically lowers the corporate tax rate and further tilts the balance of our tax system in favor of the wealthy. His Democratic challenger, Cathy Myers, responded by calling the plan “another corporate handout.”
“This proposal is bad for Wisconsin families. It raises tax rates on people who can least afford it to lower taxes for big business. This is an unprecedented corporate handout by Paul Ryan to appease his billionaire donors at the expense of everyone else,” Myers said.
“Not only would Medicare and Medicaid be slashed due to Ryan’s plan, but Americans burdened by exorbitant medical costs will no longer receive a tax deduction for medical expenses,” Myers explained.
Paul Ryan’s plan also cuts other deductions that provide relief for the middle class. His plan would eliminate the student loan interest deduction, state income tax deduction, and mortgage deduction on second homes, which the tourism industry in Wisconsin’s 1st District relies on.
Myers is a two-term member of the Janesville School Board. She has proudly served her constituents, including Paul Ryan, since 2013.

I will be grateful that your not sitting at the table with the adults. We have ten thousands Baby boomers retiring each day, longing for SSI and Medicare, maybe a little more money in their pockets will put off retirement and replenish our sacred entitlements. If your a Hispanic couple with four kids under eighteen, the Trump tax bill get you to keep another $ 2400 dollars of your money to provide for your family. America thrives when small businesses can compete and Trump lowers their tax rates, more citizens will now attempt to be entrepreneurs because regulations are being simplified and individuals have more of a chance to succeed. Lastly, this is progressive plan. The top half of American individual incomes pay 95 percent of individual taxes.
Due to the immense cost and danger in the ever present U.S. offense around the world – yes, offense – in order to benefit international corporations, investors, and bankers, the absolute LAST thing they should be getting are huge tax breaks. They should be stopped. Short of that, they should be taxed with much higher rates in order to protect their interests which is what our military has been assigned to do the last 45 years or more. This tax bill does nothing but shift those immoral costs to the working and middle class citizens – most of whom are against endless war and a war on so called terrorism. But Ryan and a whole bunch of other people in Washington, Texas, Kansas, Wisconsin and elsewhere could not care less what the people want. Allow this bill to stand and we allow tyranny a much bigger foothold than they already have. If people think a higher standard deduction while they take away your exemptions is worth the price we will pay for this bill, there is no hope for democracy in this country.
