Fuel Café Opens New 5th Street Location
Original Fuel Café owners team with BelAir Cantina partners to expand offerings; Grand opening celebration Thursday 3/9 to benefit BUILD program
Milwaukee, Wis. (February 28, 2017) – Fuel Café owners Scott Johnson and Leslie Montemurro have teamed up with BelAir Cantina partners Kristyn Eitel and Noe Zamora to open a new Fuel Café at 630 S. 5th Street that features Fuel Café’s renowned offerings as well as a full bar and menu.
“Our new location is decidedly riffing off Fuel’s motorcycle roots,” said Johnson. “But that is really just a sliver of our identity. Fuel in Walker’s Point is a combo of a self-service café with full espresso bar, our own bakery line and grab and go items, and a full table service neighborhood restaurant and bar.”
According to Montemurro, the expanded menu of the new location is focused on a modern, healthier take on American classics. “We will feature scratch cooking proudly using produce from Victory Garden Initiative and other local suppliers,” she said.
Noe Zamora, partner and chef at all BelAir Cantinas, has been working with his team all winter on Fuel Café menu items that will include breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.
The partners’ main goal is to become part of the fabric of old and new Walker’s Point, but they will also build on Fuel’s motorcycle roots. As a nod to tradition, Fuel will offer “Two Wheel Tuesdays” with dinner and drink specials, and televised motorcycle races.
“We have been wanting to open an expanded version of Fuel for a long time, and everyone in our group is excited to be a part of the growing and vibrant Walker’s Point community,” said Eitel. “The final design of the new location is really unique and is a fresh and modern take on the original Fuel concept.”
Fuel Café on 5th’ Street’s layout includes a street side café, and a main bar and restaurant area. A large outdoor patio with seating and firepits will open this summer and the café has a semi-private mezzanine available for group meetings or small gatherings and events. The new Fuel Café design was created and brought to life through collaborative efforts of the location’s landlord Mark Lathers, Rinka-Chung Architects and Kelly Construction & Design.
The café opened to guests Monday, February 27, and it will host a grand opening celebration all-day Thursday, March 9, with 50 percent of proceeds benefiting the BUILD program. BUILD is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to pairing teams of high school students with bike-building mentors in a collective effort to learn valuable life and interpersonal skills while restoring vintage motorcycles.
The new Fuel Café will be open daily Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m.- 8 p.m. and from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The restaurant and bar will be open daily from 8 a.m. – bar close. Breakfast and lunch will be served Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m., brunch will be offered Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Dinner will be served from 3 -10 p.m. daily.
