Candidate for State Superintendent John Humphries released the following statement in response to the nomination of Betsy DeVos for U.S. Education Secretary:

By - Nov 23rd, 2016 08:06 pm

“I’m thrilled to have a strong advocate for school choice like Ms. DeVos heading the US Department of Education. Under her leadership, we’re sure to have new opportunities to reduce regulation and support for creative solutions to long-standing problems in education.

Next week, I will be attending the summit of the Foundation for Excellence in Education, an organization that is focused on improving educational outcomes across the nation, and which Ms. DeVos supports as a board member. I look forward to the opportunity to bring groundbreaking reform ideas back to Wisconsin so we can regain the educational excellence our students and parents deserve.”

  1. The merger of online academic curriculum and online gaming simulation learning will advance to address an enhanced series of learning for all sectors of society.
The future looks bright with the advancement of technology learning platforms. The Fortune 500 corporations along with the Technical Colleges, Universities and k-12 around the globe will advance the learning opportunities to reduce the educational cost and enhance learning. This will allow a new arrangement of funding to support additional stabilization for families basic needs such as health care, community and national
    infrastructure.

  2. daniel golden says:

Humphries pledges accountability, but the crucial question is will he support objective testing for his favored charter schools? He endorses De Vos, who has always opposed requiring charter schools to undergo the same objective testing the public schools are required to administer. Even though most of the voucher schools have a much lower % of special needs children than the public schools , their supporters are reluctant to have honest assessment as to their quality and efficiency.
Besides not believing that public and voucher schools should be measured with the same yardstick, there is a another major problem with DeVos and Humphries approach: The further we allow the school system of this nation to be privatized, the more difficult it will be to hold the social fabric of this country together. If DeVos were honest, she would admit her ideal school system would be based on Christian dogma, rather than objective science and facts.

Separation of state and religion. The founders fled religious dogma and persecution. Don’t bring it back!! Ours is a secular government. Everyone is able to worship as they see fit, but pushing it with public money is unconstitutional.
