Gov. Walker Signs Robotics Bill into Law
Under this legislation schools may apply to the Department of Public Instruction for a grant of up-to five thousand dollars.
Madison – Today Governor Scott Walker signed into law Assembly Bill 665. This legislation, authored by State Representative Adam Neylon (R-Pewaukee), gives schools a grant to help establish a school-based team to participate in robotics competitions.
“This legislation is a creative way to help schools provide students with skills they need as they enter the workforce,” said Rep. Neylon. “Robotics is a quickly emerging technology in manufacturing and in the economy, as a whole. These robotics competitions are fun, but more importantly they introduce students to the skills and concepts they will need to succeed in the workforce of tomorrow. I want to thank Gov. Walker and Sen. Nass for helping me pass this legislation.”
Under this legislation schools may apply to the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) for a grant of up-to five thousand dollars. It is expected schools will begin applying to DPI for grants beginning this Fall.
