Stith, Contreras go “On the Issues” to discuss launch of new Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Milwaukee
Cristo Rey Milwaukee is new to the city’s education scene.
MILWAUKEE – Andrew Stith, President of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School Milwaukee, and Maritza Contreras, Director of Administrative Management Services at the Hispanic Chamber of Wisconsin, will be the featured guests in an upcoming “On the Issues with Mike Gousha,” Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. in Eckstein Hall, 1215 W. Michigan St.
Cristo Rey Milwaukee is new to the city’s education scene. It welcomed its first freshman class in August, joining a national network of high schools that feature not just rigorous academics, but something unusual in today’s education environment: a workplace component. As part of their education, Cristo Rey students share full-time positions at local businesses. The goal is to produce graduates who are prepared for higher education and the workplace.
Stith, the president of the new school, will discuss its opening and mission. Contreras, a former student at Cristo Rey Chicago, will offer insights about the student experience.
Seating is available, although registration is required and is available online. For those who can’t attend in person, a “watch now” button on the registration page will provide access to a live video stream.
Gousha, an award-winning television journalist, is the Law School’s distinguished fellow in law and public policy. His “On the Issues” series of conversations with newsmakers supports Marquette Law School’s commitment to serve as a modern-day public square for the city of Milwaukee, the state of Wisconsin and beyond.
Through the Marquette Law School Poll, debates featuring candidates in significant political races, public lectures by leading scholars and topical conferences — all open to the community — the Law School serves as a venue for serious civil discourse about law and public policy matters.
