Grand Rapids, MI— Goalie Trey Augustine stopped 25 shots to lead the Grand Rapids Griffins to a 4-2 win over the Milwaukee Admirals Friday at Van Andel Arena.

The loss dropped Milwaukee to 7-4-0-0. The Admirals, with 14 points, are still in third place in the Central Division.

Grand Rapids entered the locker room after one period with a 2-0 lead. Sutter Muzzatti scored a goal from between the circles at 5:20 of the first frame. Then, Dylan James scored a shorthanded goal at 11:45 to increase the Griffins lead to two. It was the first shorthanded goal allowed by the Admirals this season.

Grand Rapids forward Dominik Shine, who scored four goals in a game two nights earlier, added a power play goal in the second frame. Standing in the left circle, Shine snapped a rebound past Admirals goalie Matt Murray at 8:42.

Milwaukee’s power play struck for just the fourth time this season to get the team on the board. Cole O’Hara’s shot from the left circle went off a Griffins defender into the net at 16:10. It was O’Hara’s fifth goal of the season. Assists went to Joakim Kemell and Tyson Jost.

Noah Dower Nilsson scored into an empty net for the Griffins with 2:10 remaining in the game. But, just :16 later, Admirals forward Chase Bradley snapped a shot from the left circle into the net for his third goal of the season. Joey Willis recorded the lone assist.

Murray stopped 22 shots in the loss for Milwaukee.

The Admirals will host Iowa at Panther Arena at 6 pm on Saturday, November 7.
