Spring Trends for Guys and Gals

Spring is finally in the air in Milwaukee, & we've got some fashion tips to keep both men & women looking stylish in suits, bold patterns, & bright colors.

It’s finally starting to warm up a bit here in the great state of Wisconsin, which means we can start unpacking and/or purchasing our warmer weather wardrobe. Since we want to be ready on the first possible day to sport them, here are the hottest spring trends for you to choose from and make your own:

Guys

Men have some great options this spring. If you’re not normally the most stylish man on the block, now’s the time to kick it up a notch and add one or more of these trends to your daily look. You may be surprised at the positive feedback you receive.

Bright colors – Men look hot in color. Black is so overused and neutrals are so, well, vanilla. Make a statement that says you’re confident and comfortable with yourself—there’s nothing more attractive. If you’re scared of color, start slow by adding a shirt in a fun color. Then try a coat (colored trench coats are another trend this season), pants or shoes. You can do it. After a while, it will become a positive habit that people will notice and appreciate.

Navy suit – Navy is the new black. If navy is in your color season, consider getting a navy suit. It’s less severe than black and looks great with cool-tone skin. Blue represents trust and intellectualism—two important things for a suit to convey. Get wild and pair it with a bright shirt and tie. Two trends in one outfit!

Bold patterns – This is another trend where you’ll need to leave your comfort zone. You may have fancied bold patterns in the past, but it’s a new day, so give it a try. Don’t let the pattern wear you; have confidence and wear the pattern. You’ll definitely get some compliments for standing out from the pack.

Brown – If your skin tone is warm, brown is a great addition to your wardrobe this season. Brown represents being down to earth and non-threatening, which are great everyday traits to project. Try brown in pants, shirts, or coats. Pair it with a bright orange, lime green or coral, and you’re set.

Gals

If you don’t usually think much about style or how to make the most of your look, you can use this trend information to make a difference (whether big or small—you decide) in how you present yourself.

Flower prints – Don’t be scared. These aren’t old grandma prints. These are modern, fun, flirty garden flowers. If you’re scared of flower prints, start with a scarf or purse. If you’re more daring, go full out!

Bright colors – I don’t know about you, but I’m so over black. At this point, you’ve probably worn way too much black in the last 16 to 20 weeks and need some color to add joy to your life. Don’t be afraid. Start with one bright piece and work your way towards brilliant happiness. Color will improve your mood immediately.

Variety of prints and textures – Combine different prints and textures together in one outfit for a hot look this season. Show the world you have the guts to be different!

Power suit – No matter what you do for a living, a girl should always own at least one great suit. No, it doesn’t have to be corporate; it can be the “ladies who lunch” variety or something more casual. If you open your mind, you’ll be surprised how much wear you get from it.

Sheer fabrics – I always hesitate to mention this minefield trend. Sheer fabric does not give license for overexposure. It means letting your arms and legs be seen while wearing a cami or tank top under sheer tops. This way, you can enjoy sheerness while being appropriate.

Take these hot trends of spring 2013 and make them your own. Use your own color season and styles for your body type to look your very best. It will be worth the effort.
