MAGA Billionaires Are Trying to Buy Wisconsin

Two billionaire families account for nearly nine out of every ten dollars to Wisconsin Republicans in latest campaign finance filings – and over $79 million total this cycle

MADISON, Wis. — Today the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, David Crowley, and Democratic legislative leaders are joining together to sound the alarm about the unprecedented spending of three MAGA billionaires responsible for the vast majority of Republican spending – and why it proves Tom Tiffany and Wisconsin Republicans will always put the ultra-rich ahead of working families.

Campaign finance reports released yesterday reveal Illinois billionaires Richard and Elizabeth Uihlein donated $22 million to the Republican Party of Wisconsin, with billionaire Diane Hendricks adding another $5.6 million. The party then transferred $24.2 million directly to Tom Tiffany’s campaign – 92 percent of all the funds raised by Tiffany for the period. On top of that, Hendricks gave $7.2 million to the Republican legislative caucuses – 92 percent of all funds raised by them for the period.

This election cycle, the Uihleins and Hendricks have contributed more than $79 million to Wisconsin Republicans and groups backing them. This unprecedented spending even eclipses what billionaire Elon Musk spent during the 2025 Wisconsin Supreme Court race.

WisDems Chairman Devin Remiker: “Three MAGA billionaires think they can buy an election to stop a Democratic trifecta in Wisconsin. Tom Tiffany and Wisconsin Republicans time and time again have sold us out on behalf of a chaotic and corrupt Trump administration. Tom Tiffany ripped healthcare away from hundreds of thousands of Wisconsinites to pay for tax breaks for the very same billionaires who are now pouring tens of millions of dollars into his campaign while Wisconsinites are stuck with skyrocketing costs from Trump’s failing war that Tiffany voted five times to continue. We simply can’t afford to bring Trump and Tiffany’s Washington corruption to Wisconsin.”

David Crowley: “These billionaires aren’t spending this kind of money to help Wisconsin families. They’re doing it because they know Congressman Tom Tiffany will do their bidding, the same way he did in Washington when he protected billionaires in the Epstein files and gave his donors massive tax cuts. I’ll always work for Wisconsin, but Tiffany will always work for Donald Trump and his billionaire donors – and that’s the choice in this election.”

Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubauer: “Everyday, we hear from Wisconsin families that they are struggling to afford groceries, gas, and health care. Instead of addressing these issues, Republican legislators are taking their marching orders from billionaires who don’t care that people are struggling. Voters deserve a Legislature that works for them, not one bought and paid for by billionaires and special interests.”

Senate Democratic Leader Dianne Hesselbein: “The Wisconsin Senate is the most flippable chamber in the country this year, and Republicans know it. This desperate attempt by billionaire donors to buy the election will fail, because Wisconsinites cannot be bought. Voters are ready to elect a Democratic majority that is focused on cutting costs and moving our state forward. Senate Democrats will continue earning the trust of our residents one conversation at a time.”
