  1. Mingus says:

One of the primary concerns about housing shortages is the fact that many working families cannot find affordable housing. They could generate family wealth with the ever increasing equity they would have in the home through not paying rent and the increas in the value of a home over time. A town house development could also give families the opportunity to own a property. Home ownership would stabilize a neighborhood and would be less likely to have some of the crime that sometimes comes with large apartment developments.

Michael Cudahy Farms: only in Milwaukee! Is this Democratic Leadership?
On the mayor of Milwaukee’s desk sits this legislation to be signed: the destruction of a 51acre “urban old growth forest”. With his signature the habitat for 42 bird species, 15 Wetlands on the property and rare tree species( butternut tree?), will be lost forever. We lament the loss of the Brazilian Rainforest on t.v.; we shake our head at the paving of the Rose Garden, and now we will lose the only Recreation site in the entire Granville bid!! This rotten development shows the lack of vision for the north side of Milwaukee. We steal our children’s heritage for 30 pieces of silver!
But not just that; this signature will implicate not only the County Executive, David Crowley, but also the Democratic Governor. This visionless developer plans on using taxpayers’ money and state money to cut down “thousands and thousands of trees”( developer’s own words), to put up “typical apartment buildings”( Architect’s words “). And the original plan included concrete for up to 2000 cars.
Welcome to Milwaukee where you can still ‘cut down Paradise and make a parking lot’.
I wonder if the children playing in these Woods had been white would the media, and City Hall ( experts with Innovation and DNR experience), and 10 alderman, and the MMAC, and the business community would conspire to sneak this bad development past the people??
