I do feel bad for Time Equities. It looked like they had done a great renovation, just in time for the DOVID.
I guess it’s safe to assume the new residences would be in the portion to the east of the atrium, given that small floor plates allow for an easier residential conversion. That’s at least what I would prefer. I wonder if they could install some windows that open a bit, of if they would want to. Frankly, I’d feel a little claustrophobic living somewhere without that.
Part 2: That would then allow “city hall” to lease and move into some if not all of the rest of the building.
THAT would then allow Milwaukee’s legitimately historic City Hall (and notorious money pit) to be handed off to a creative nonprofit that can raise funds and better use the gorgeous space as a tourist attraction, events space, and museum.
Similar to what the County is doing to privatize Villa Terrace and the Charles Allis Art Museum.
Hey, perhaps we could get a “new Milwaukee Public Museum” in addition to the “NAC,” Nature and Culture Museum of Wisconsin!
There are SO MANY apartment complexes downtown of various types and ages.
Big question: Would there be a demand for those apartments? Would there be assigned parking in that building?
As suggested by Franklin F, aren’t there other types of government functions that could move into that very nice building?
