Two data plots

Two data plots shared with permission of Cuhel-Aguilar Laboratories in April 2024. On the left, sampling from the junction of Milwaukee's three rivers. On the right, sampling from the mid outer harbor between the Hoan Bridge span and the breakwater lighthouse as shown on the Google Earth basemap. Both plots show data from the first day of winter 2023. At the Junction, Dr. Cuhel notes at least six distinct layers as waters from Milwaukee's three rivers, the combined river, the outer harbor, and Lake Michigan all meet. At the Mid Outer Harbor, there are two layers and a zone of mixing. The layered structure of Milwaukee's harbor waters has implications for the transport of nutrients, preferred fish habitats, and the depths at which different algae like diatoms may proliferate under different conditions. Data plots provided by Cuhel-Aguilar Labs in 2024.
