New Event Space In Walker’s Point
New venue called Vieux will replace Points View Boite bar at 1619 S. 1st St.
A new event space would replace the Points View Boite nightclub on S. 1st St.
The nightclub stopped operating at 1619 S. 1st St. in recent months, and now a new event space called Vieux is slated to open in the location.
The building is still owned by Marcos Ramos-Garcia, who owned Points View Boite. He last applied for a liquor license and public entertainment license for the club in July 2021.
Ramos-Garcia opened a late-night restaurant, Makk’n’Cheese, at 2242 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. in 2020. There is also a speakeasy in the back called Blind Tiger. Points View Boite, as a brand, still promotes events and DJ’s at the speakeasy. A second Makk’n’Cheese location opened on the East Side in 2021.
Ramos-Garcia has owned the building on S. 1st St. since 2018 when his LLC MRG Group LLC purchased it. It was built in 1890 and has the commercial space on the first floor and residential units on the second floor.
The building is sandwiched between a Scrub-A-Dub Car Wash and a vacant lot on a highly traveled corridor between Downtown and Bay View. As Urban Milwaukee reported in 2019, the city estimated that the property is passed by as many as 19,000 vehicles a day.
Loera-Solis lists an opening date in early May for Vieux on the license application. The planned hours of operation are from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
The liquor license is subject to Common Council approval.
