A new barbeque restaurant will open on Milwaukee’s North Side. Christopher Patton and Michael Hester plan to open Bro’s Backyard BBQ at 1742 W. Atkinson Ave, just a block south of Capitol Drive.

Menu items include pork ribs, pork tips and chicken. Customers can pay by the portion for ribs, chicken or turkey breast or pay for an entire rib or chicken dinner. Barbeque staple sides like greens, mac-n-cheese, baked beans and potato salad are included as well.

There will be no seating for on-site dining, according to the license application. Delivery, catering and outdoor grilling will be available however.

Planned hours are from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Tuesday to Saturday and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Mondays will be closed according to the license application.

Patton and Hester did not respond to Urban Milwaukee’s calls asking for comment. A license application is pending before the Milwaukee Common Council.

The building, owned by Ifran Maqsood, was built in 1924. It was most recently occupied by Doc’s Tattoo & Piercing.

Prior to that it was home to a Redd’s Snapper Seafoods restaurant. Real estate developer Kalan Haywood purchased the last remaining location, 6016 W. Lisbon Ave., in 2018 and rebranded it as Red Snapper Fish Company.

The 4,230-square-foot building is home to one commercial unit and one residential unit.
