    Thanks Cari for the praise. I appreciate it. Dan Steininger, grandson of former Mayor Dan Hoan and Harbor Commission Chair deserves credit for his persistent push for the public interest. MMSD played a key role in building the island and supporting it’s use as a park open to public access.
    Also Wisconsin’s DNR deserve high praise for Lakeshore State Park and also for removing the North Avenue and Estabrook Park dams which has made the Milwaukee River a great urban fishing, canoeing and hiking destination.
