I worry about another 200 + people and another 110 cars at this location. There is already congestion there. I also worry about the potential effect this proposed development would have on that jewel of a tiny park just one block east of the proposed 7 story apartment building, If another 200 + people live within a block of that park – – in the shadow of the water tower[ – would that lovely park (where local residents and employees of nearby hospitals often eat bag lunches while looking at Lake Michigan) become a home for dog droppings and … ?
Thomas, this is a dense area of the city already, so being opposed to a higher density project here does not make much sense. Your concern about increased congestion also I think should be looked at differently. Congestion slows traffic down and slower traffic is safer for pedestrians and bicyclists and drivers alike.
Your concern about the increased use of the water fountain or Back Bay Park are also unfounded, as these are extremely under-utilised and definitely have room for more enjoyment by locals.
This is not Mequon or Brookfield, people. This is the dense, vibrant urban east side and developments like this should be welcome here as long as they are aesthetically pleasing and not car-centric (it would be nice to see a development like this with half the parking).
