"It’s not until you live here that you truly appreciate the rich history, various festivals, and all the countless things to do."
Where do you work and what makes your role awesomesauce?
I’m the founder of the non-profit Blackboard Volunteer Corps. Our mission is to serve the community through the betterment of public K-12 schools in the Milwaukee area. I love knowing that we’re helping to improve the local community and seeing the results of our work.
What do you love most about Milwaukee?
I love all the diverse drinking establishments that Milwauykee has to offer. Being from Indiana, it’s crazy to me that I have a couple of bars less than 100 feet from where I live. I have a lot of fun exploring new bars around the East Side.
What is one word that you would use to describe Milwaukee?
Charming. It’s not until you live here that you truly appreciate the rich history, various festivals, and all the countless things to do.
What local restaurant is at the top of your list?
Real Chili is by far my favorite local restaurant. They’ve got me hooked. Thinking about it now is making me want to go there for dinner.
What is your biggest hope for this city?
My biggest hope for Milwaukee is that our youth committing crimes in this city declines. It’s heartbreaking that you hear about kids stealing cars and wielding guns. These sad stories are part of the reason why I created Blackboard, to help give a brighter future for our uninspired students committing these crimes.
What’s your favorite hidden gem or secret fact about the city?
I’m not sure if it’s a hidden gem, but Bugsy’s Back Alley Speakeasy has to be my favorite bars that I’ve found in this city. They’ve done an excellent job “camouflaging” the entrance. First time that I went it took me a couple of walkthroughs to find the place!
