Governor Scott Walker‘s Wauwatosa home is for sale, according to news reports and a real estate listing.

The governor selected a relative to be his real estate agent, choosing Cathy Priem, who is married to Shelli Marquardt, a cousin of First Lady Tonette Walker. Scott Walker has a long history, going back to his days as a state legislator, of opposing gay marriage.

As for the home sale, the governor tweeted this explanation: “Like many empty nesters, we are looking to downsize our home.” It appears the 2,400 square foot home has been vacated and staged for purposes of showing it — by appointment only.

The First Family has not announced the location of its new nest, but an aerie atop a Milwaukee high rise is not a likely destination.

The family retains the use of the Executive Residence in Madison, where the empty-nesters can enjoy a 20,000 square foot, 34-room, 13 bath, seven bedroom lakefront dwelling.

Was House Confidential Honoree

In 2013, House Confidential visited the Walker residence, and speculated that the road to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington D.C. might just run past this home on N. 68th St. in Wauwatosa. Yet, this was not to be.

The Walkers bought the residence for $310,000 on February 28th, 2007. The relatively modest home, with 2,420 square feet, was mostly notable for its plentiful plumbing. The two full baths included a shower over tub, a shower stall, a vanity and a whirlpool for the governor to wash his cares away. There are 13 plumbing fixtures total in the whole house, not to mention a 12 foot by 20 foot in-ground pool installed way back in 1983.

Keeping it in the Family

The home is offered for sale by Delavan real estate agent Cathy Priem, of Premar, LLC. who married Tonette Walker’s cousin Shelli Marquardt on June 9th, 2014 in Waukesha. Walker’s son Alex, then 19, was a witness at what was one of the first gay weddings in Wisconsin.

Will downsizing make it easier for Walker to entertain higher-paid options in DC as a lobbyist, think-tank honcho etc.? He’s been quoted saying the Tonette wished they did not have to survive on his measly $147,000 governor’s salary (plus perks).

Seriously? See the shower that “bathed” a governor? How about “see the toilet” he took a ??? on too? That is not how I would want my home advertised even if I was famous.
