Lacey Van Syckle
"Milwaukee has something for everyone."
What is your job and its responsibilities?
I am a Product Owner at Penrod, which is a Salesforce.com Implementation Partner that specializes in the Health & Life Sciences Industry. I am responsible for the success of the solutions we provide our large enterprise partners. With customer service as our top priority, I ensure that the solutions we provide exceed the expectations of our partners.
What strikes you as the most unique thing about Milwaukee?
Milwaukee has something for everyone. Foodies can fill their appetites with cuisine from around the world, music junkies have a vast amount of venues to choose from, art aficionados can catch a Broadway show or go to the art museum, and the social butterflies can hop from bar to bar. There is never a lack of activities.
What is your favorite Milwaukee beer?
Although I love my fair share of Milwaukee brews, nothing can top my fall favorite – Lakefront Pumpkin Lager.
What is the perfect thing to do in Milwaukee on a Sunday afternoon?
My favorite area in Milwaukee is the Third Ward. So, a perfect Sunday involves a little bit of shopping, coffee drinking, and riverwalk strolling with my dog.
Was there a point where you decided this was the city you wanted to live in?
I grew up in the Milwaukee area and after I graduated from Marquette University I decided that Milwaukee was where I wanted to start my career. In my travels I have yet to see a city with such an infectious sense of community and pride; it makes it hard to leave.
Favorite place to grab coffee/an after dinner drink?
Being part of a fast paced startup has increased my appreciation for a good cup of coffee and after work relaxation. Milwaukee has so many great options for both, but my favorites are Anodyne for a Honey Bee Latte and Club Charlies for a little Tito’s, Diet Coke, and grenadine.

Okay, I know, this is feel good, “puff” journalism. It’s supposed to reinforce my conviction that Milwaukee is a wonderful place. I get that. Lacey is young, beautiful, educated, drinks beer, has a dog and hangs out in the Third Ward. What more could you want in someone new to Milwaukee?
How about someone new to Milwaukee? She’ a graduate of Marquette, so she’s been around town for–what?–four years?–before she gets a job here after graduation. And before that? She grew up in the Milwaukee area. Where’s that? Mequon?
Newaukeean? Not hardly.
