"I love this city and I don’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon."
What is your job and its responsibilities?
I am an Account Coordinator at Ascedia, a digital marketing and advertising agency. I work with the account team on managing day-to-day accounts. For what I don’t get paid to do, that would be President of Ad 2 Milwaukee, a young professionals non-profit networking organization that is centered on the marketing and advertising fields.
How long have you lived in Milwaukee & what brought you here?
I have lived in Milwaukee almost eight years now. I moved to Milwaukee from Chicago, where I was born and raised (yes, in the city, not the suburbs, I know you all were thinking it). I wanted to go away to school but I never had my heart set on anywhere specific. When I took a tour of UW-Milwaukee, I fell in love with the campus. It was close to home but far just enough away, close to the water, downtown and was just sitting in this neighborhood that was so calming. I was sold and I was enrolled the following semester.
What strikes you as the most unique thing about Milwaukee?
The most unique thing about Milwaukee is the magnificent and divine creations of the Bloody Mary that come out of this city! I have never been to another city that creates, displays and makes a huge event out of the deliciousness that is a Bloody Mary. It is a meal in a glass. It’s amazing! I never liked Bloody Marys before I moved to Milwaukee. No place can compare with a Milwaukee Bloody Mary!
The best hour of the day is happy hour! I know a lot of Milwaukeeans can agree on that. My favorite place to grab an after work drink would have to be Black Sheep. It is the best little wine bar that is close to my office. I love the atmosphere, the setting and the vibes in that place. Another great place I love to go to that is pretty unique is Camp Bar in Shorewood. There is one in Wauwatosa also, but Shorewood is close to home. I love everything about Camp Bar, that outdoorsy, friendly, at home, we are all friends in this place feel it gives! And yes, they have an awesome Bloody Mary!
What is the most effective way to implement change in Milwaukee?
Networking! Networking is the way of Milwaukee. Everyone who wants to implement change, bring new ideas, expand this city, make their dreams a reality within this city are the people you will find at every networking event around town. Everyone knows everyone in this city. Milwaukee is a small city with a big town feel, and that’s what makes networking so easy to plan and attend. Milwaukee is an up and coming city year after year and it’s because of the residents in this town making it what it is today and what it will be.
What do you think of Milwaukee as a place to socialize and play?
Milwaukee is one the best places to socialize and play! Happy Hours are a huge event to most establishments around town, there are so many organizations that host networking events, parties, bar crawls, you name it Milwaukee is hosting it, and you can find any age group participating. It’s fantastic to see and be a part of. There is so much history, architecture and art in this city that is just waiting to be explored. The brewery tours are so much fun to have with friends, family and out of town guests. When Bradford Beach is open it’s the place to be for volleyball, grilling out and just hanging with friends. I love this city and I don’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon. There is so much potential and I can’t wait to see where we take this city!
