My favorite hotel! I always loved happy hour at the Blu. They usually had great horderves too.

The Lobby Bar was excellent also. Val makes great bloody Mary’s and great conversation.

    I think I’m getting homesick! LOL !

Great feature on a beautiful space.

One correction: Teddy Roosevelt was actually shot outside the Gilpatrick Hotel, which is across the street from the current Hyatt Hotel.

Nice article on the Blu, however you have a historical fact incorrect. President Teddy Roosevelt, who was campaigning for reelection, was shot outside the Gilpatrick Hotel, which is where the Hyatt is today.

Thanks for the kind words on the piece.

I realize there are conflicting accounts of the Teddy Roosevelt shooting in Milwaukee, but this National Parks Service article claims it was outside the Pfister: http://www.nps.gov/thrb/historyculture/whoshottr.htm

Also, I read James Chace’s book on the 1912 election a while back and I’m almost positive he said it was outside the Pfister.

Either way, there’s no doubt that Teddy Roosevelt was NOT running for reelection. Taft was President from 1909-1913.
