TCD’s New Look, New Name

Third Coast Daily

We're Third Coast Daily, now, and we've consolidated to a single landing page, but our passion for Milwaukee's arts and culture burns bright as ever.

Third Coast Daily.

Not ThirdCoast Digest. Not anymore.

Note the spaces conveniently located between all three words. And note that Digest has given way to Daily.

We’ve changed the name, the look and the structure of our website, to more accurately reflect who we are and what we do in 2013. Longtime Third Coast fans know that we ended political coverage and commentary last fall, in order to concentrate on our strong suits: High culture, pop culture and lifestyle. We took on the slogan “Milwaukee’s trusted guide to arts and culture,” and that’s true. But we’re really the guide to the Good Life in Milwaukee, to all the things that make life worth living: Art, music, theater, film, fashion, travel, books, and the special people and places that make Milwaukee an engaging city. We’re as passionate as you are about such things.

The biggest change at the site is that we have consolidated links to all of our content on a single landing page. When we covered politics, it made sense to have a separate Arts & Culture page; that is no longer the case, and two landing pages with similar content served only to create confusion. We’ve redesigned our home page not only to refresh TCD’s look but also to raise the story count. The new one-stop-shopping landing page displays every piece well and gives our readers easy access to a larger number of stories. The consolidated audience will also serve our advertisers better than either of the two landing pages on the old site.

We’ve made some changes, but we have been careful to preserve TCD’s best features. As in the past, nothing ever goes away or drops behind a pay wall. Every story we’ve ever published, back to our opening day of March 9, 2009, remains a click or two away via our excellent search engine. As always, you can get to a complete menu of a favorite writer’s stories by clicking on that writer’s byline. Likewise with the category buttons on our expanded, clearer and more intuitive navigation bar, which you’ll spot just under the masthead. You’re only interested in theater? Hit that Theater button and up pops a list of links to every story we’ve published on that topic. The same with every other category button.

We’re now “daily” not only because we publish new stories every day, but because we create every one of those stories ourselves. We don’t aggregate from other publications and we don’t subscribe to wire services. We bake from scratch, and our products are 100% local. So bookmark our new landing page and check in daily. You’ll always find something new to enjoy and pass on.

Sign up for TCD’s E-news to keep up with our work and Milwaukee’s vibrant arts scene — and to have first crack at the show tickets and other premiums we give away nearly every week. It’s free.
