I hope that their commitment to Milwaukee includes a commitment to hiring local architecture firms.

Glad NML is sticking around, I just hope their building is something very special and not just another square boring box. MKE needs another signature designed building to rival MAM. I am not confident we’ll get that from NML and hiring local architecture firms is the worst thing they can do. Put the design out to the world and see what fantastic styles come back.
I agree with the Architecture firm being shopped around globally. As part of the construction budget it typically runs about 5% of total costs, with the majority of the remaining work likely coming from local contractors. It will be interesting to see which, if any, of the major GC firms in Wisconsin are awarded the bid..
