TCD 2013 Spring Internships Open
Ever wanted to work with us at TCD? We've got four internships open for the spring cycle, in editorial, social media and photo positions.
It’s a new year, and TCD’s looking for a new set of interns to join our dedicated editorial team of writers, photographers, videographers and social media gurus. Think you might be interested? Read on:
ThirdCoast Digest is Milwaukee’s home for focused, detailed and comprehensive arts & culture coverage. An online presence since 2009, TCD covers art and artists in the realms of music, theater, dance, film, literature and the visual arts, along with columns and profiles on fashion, travel and dining. As an exclusively digital publication, TCD is able to supplement our written coverage with a variety of multimedia components, including podcasts, video interviews and profiles, and varied use of social media including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and more. Our primary aim is to further establish ourselves as Milwaukee’s cultural authority, and continue to help the growth of the arts in our local community.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
The barebones answer to this question is simple: for the upcoming semester/cycle, we’re seeking two arts/editorial interns, one social media intern, and one photo intern. All internship terms will last a minimum of 12 weeks, and interns are expected to work at least 10 hours a week, although some of those may be from home or other remote locations. All four internships are unpaid, although if you are still in school, college credit can be offered should you desire it. For specifics on each position, follow the following links:
More broadly, we’re looking for four people with a drive to explore the possibilities of our online medium, a passion for the arts and/or Milwaukee culture, and the creativity and ambition to get as much as you can out of this internship. Unlike many other media outlets, we don’t require interns to be currently enrolled in college or recent graduates – we’re looking for the best new additions to our team regardless of age or educational status. If you are a current or recent student though, don’t let that scare you off; TCD’s intern program is first and foremost meant to promote hands-on learning, and our smaller staff gives you the opportunity to work directly with the whole team, many of whom were in fact once in your very place.
HOW TO APPLY
Please send a cover letter, resume and at least two examples of prior work to senior editor Tom Strini, tstrini@urbanmilwaukeedial.com, and assistant culture editor Matthew Reddin, mreddin@urbanmilwaukeedial.com. The deadline for all applications is February 1, 2012; interviews may be scheduled prior to that date, although no hires will be made until after that deadline.
