Equal parts sassy and classy, electropop purveyors YACHT formed in 2002 as the solo project of Singer Jona Bechtolt. Since then, the band have expanded to a 5 piece. Known for their blend of quirky lyrics over catchy yet danceable arrangements, the band released their most recent album Shangri-La in 2011 on the DFA label.

Cream City Soundcheck caught the band while they were in town last May, taking them on a boat trip courtesy of Adventure Charter Boats, stopping in at Barnacle Bud’s and Sky High, making it back in time for their show at Turner Hall Ballroom.

This Thursday, Sept. 13, TCD, docUWM, Peck School of the Arts (celebrating its Year of the Arts) and the Pabst Group will host the Cream City Soundcheck Celebration at Turner Hall Ballroom. The event will feature live performances from RAS Movement (feat. Naima Adedapo), The Fatty Acids, and Kane Place Record Club. The evening also features screenings of videos with MaritimeYACHT, Paul CebarI’m Not A PilotMortgage FreemanHoly Shit!, and Kings Go Forth.
