Spring Gallery Night in Review

By - Apr 22nd, 2012 04:10 pm

Friday night was another bang-up Gallery Night, with artwork ranging from the tranquil to thought-provoking. It was a night that saw a grand reception for the new Pfister Artist-in-Residence Timothy Westbrook and some fantastic costumes, a packed Windhover Hall full of big band swing dancers, a successful and edible avant-garde show by Brooke Thiele at the Kenilworth Studios, and ended with a river terrace view party in Art Milwaukee‘s “Honeymoon” follow-up.  We Storify-ed the results for you, in a travelogue of the evening through social media:

The ThirdCoast Digest staff was all over the city this past Friday evening as the art galleries opened with new artists, performances and parties that celebrated the creative culture of both local and international talents.

@TCDigest began the evening at the Marshall Building in the Third Ward, which found a goodwill ambassador to art walking around in a suit of armor, the launch of Portrait Society’s “Book Show,” an open house in the expanded ACLU office for three nationally censored pieces, new galleries opening, and a mandolin orchestra in the lobby.

Next, we were on the East Side at Kenilworth Open Studios. The main attraction of the evening was film instructor Brooke Theile’s one-woman show reflecting on the culture of hunting and baking called “Serving Still Hunting.”
