New trends — and obsessions — for 2012
Obsessions and Trends for 2012
Hello 2012! It’s the start of a new year and a perfect time to revitalize your accessories. I’d planned to jot down what I thought the accessory trends for the new year would be this week, but found myself straying off the path a bit. So I figured I’d just go with the flow and share things that are catching my eye — as well as a forecasted trend or two!
A Charmed Life
Right now I’m REALLY obsessed with charm bracelets. Not your run-of-the-mill traditional charm bracelets but ones that are big, chunky and up-to-date. The one I’m drooling over is this Pianegonda’s charm bracelet. A little on the pricey side, but a girl can dream right? This bracelet is bold, heavy and straight from Italy. It’s a nice modern take on the classic charm bracelet and boy, do I wish I owned one.
All is not lost though. Santa Val was spot on in giving me Juicy Couture’s Pave Silver charm bracelet instead.
It’s chunky and bold and the best part? There are loads and loads of charms available! Juicy Couture even has its own charm shop!
The charms are great because they are large, have lobster clasps for easy removal and customization, and come in many fabulous styles! First on my list is the Frappe charm.
Take a good guess … I love coffee!
Another great bracelet is the Wildfox Parisian Charm Bracelet. It features multiple chains, pearls and a nice-sized heart charm. It’s very feminine and is perfect for those who like the look of gold and pearls. You can easily add additional charms to make this an even more interesting piece.
Bag it!
A girl can’t have enough handbags, right? A new bag can do wonders for your mood and your look. Why not add one of these two to your collection? Tokidoki has a full line of Japanese-inspired character bags that are wildly popular in New York and the West Coast, covered with characters that run the gamut from Hello Kitty-cute to edgy skulls or ninjas. I know, it sounds crazy, but I encourage you to check them out! I particularly like The Comics Tulip Tote Bag with it’s bucket-like shape and big enough size to hold an iPad or a book. Another great bag is the Eye Heart Skull Bag from Loungefly. It has a rocker-grunge feel and is a perfect alternative to Ed Hardy-esque bags.

Trend Prediction for 2012: High-Heeled Sneakers
As I’m writing this all I can think of is the song “Pumped Up Kicks”. Totally appropriate for these crazy shoes from Ash.
They’re heeled takes on the classic tennis shoe! These would go great with a pair of jeans and an unstructured tee or even with a short skirt and textured nylons for a night of dancing. They are stylish and funky for sure, featuring in-style wedge heels and plenty of detail. These could quickly become your favorite pair of sneakers!
Trend prediction for 2012: Nail Wraps
Although beauty products aren’t technically accessories, they are definitely part of accessorizing your look. For 2012, it’s bye-bye nail polish and hello nail wraps! Nail wraps are the new beauty must for your fingers and toes. They are incredibly cool and fun and are better than traditional nail polish. They won’t chip and don’t require drying time. The great thing is that they are available in an endless selection of patterns and colors to match whatever look or mood you’re in. So ditch the polish and sport some of these bad boys.
