Take One

By - Sep 16th, 2010 04:00 am

With the festival just one week away, Mark sits down for a conversation with Jessica Farrell, a multi-tasking, multi-talented film student and intern at Milwaukee Film.

In addition to assisting Blyth Meier with marketing the festival and helping Mark with Collaborative Cinema, Jessica also helps the staff ensure that all of the i’s are dotted and t’s crossed, so to speak.

Whether that means spending an entire shift preparing film stills for publication, spell-checking director’s names or doing data entry for the program book, she understands that each task — no matter how minute — plays a huge role in creating a stellar finished product. Just as in film making, the process of putting a film festival together encompasses many people, functions and skills — and requires a certain amount of harmony to make sure that everything runs smoothly.

This week, Mark and Jessica share their picks for Take One: Milwaukee Children’s Film Festival and chat about the many pieces that fit into the film making puzzle.
