Gov. Doyle may keep his word and not run for reelection in 2010, but it appears that Southern Mississippi’s Hamlet has once again changed his mind.

Yes, WCCO-TV of Minneapolis is reporting that Brett Favre and his wife Deanna are on a plane en route to Minnesota where he will announce that he is returning to play for the Vikings.

Remind me again why we should care? Oh, that’s right; two years ago this guy was the most admired man in Wisconsin. Now, not so much.

Personally, I’m not surprised that he still wants to play football. He gets paid millions to do something that most guys grew up dreaming about and, in fact, would pay big bucks to do for one day.

If he’s still got the drive and someone is willing to pay him, I say “Go for it.”

Of course, there’s this little matter of deciding to play for one of the Packers division rivals. Hmm, you think he’s motivated a bit by the bad blood between him and Packer President Ted Thompson?

All I know is that first game between the Packers and the Vikings is going to be a ratings bonanza. He may seem unable to make up his mind but from a business perspective I don’t think he could have handled this any better.

Packer fans may feel angry and betrayed but you know what? This isn’t life and death, it’s only football; part sport, part entertainment and all business!

By the way, Favre and I happen to share a birthday. He will turn 40 on October 10th. Aren’t Librans supposed to be indecisive?

Just another slow news day around these parts.
