ROCK METAL CHAMPIONSHIP BOUT
Time flies when you’re having fun and the next thing you know, it’s the end of the season. Time for the moment of truth! Season One champs The Rushin Rollettes sought to regain their title, while contenders Maiden Milwaukee hoped to win it for the first time. Also banging heads in a grudge match were the Shevil Knevils and the Crazy 8’s.

NINJAS WIN GRUDGE MATCH!
THE CRAZY 8’s-77 v.s. SHEVIL KNEVILS 53

8sThe 8’s made an early push ahead and by the 5th jam they had racked up a 28 point lead. The Knevils tried to fight back, but in the end the 8’s won 77-53.

The 8’s had a good stride and in addition to regular 8’s jammers Cookie Ciano and Abba Zabba, jammers who have seen little or no jammer time this season were rotated in, including Apple Smacks, Andicent Proposal, and Jenerous Beatings. It’s been an up and down season for the 8’s, as they had several players out, which in turn seemed to wear down the remaining skaters. The Knevils had one win this season but weren’t able to build beyond that.

The trinity of Maiden Milwaukee jammers, Romaniac, Rejected Seoul, and Super Hera slid, swiped and swooped through the pack while the Rollettes rotated in their tireless cold war machine of jammers including Rhoda Ruin, Poptart, High D. Voltage, Carrie A. Hacksaw, Reina Pain and Jackie O’Nihilate. The game heated up in the second half, with the Maidens trailing by only a few points. The teams were pretty well matched, and both teams have developed sure-fire winning formulas over this season.

Both teams were playing an aggressive game and Rollette blocker Roadie Foster even had a “Meet the Press” moment when she crashed helmet first into the press box!

Toward the end of the bout, Rejected Seoul shot the team ahead with a double Grand Slam, pushing the team 10 points closer.

In the last jam, though, Jackie O’Nihilate called it off, and that was it. The Rollettes won by 8 points, and the team proudly showed off the recaptured championship trophy. Jammer High D. Voltage reflected on the Rollettes season.

“This was a long season but we accomplished what we set forth in our planning meeting at the very beginning last fall. We have been training for greatness and it showed in each practice, scrimmage and bout we played,” Voltage said. “We certainly learned a great deal about the game and also about each other, as every team does. It was definitely a hard fought bout and we couldn’t have asked for a better championship game against the Maidens. We knew that it was going to be a tough fight until the end and that each point was going to count.” League founder and Rollette Jesse Jameson also reflected on the team’s trophy win.

“We earned every wheel on that trophy. It was a great season for the Rollettes and the BCB! 2010 here we come!” It was an especially exciting night for Rollette Maggie Numb, who got quite a halftime show.

“It was a lot of hard work and time and the amazing drive of all of our awesome team! Had a little extra incentive when my boyfriend proposed to me at the half,” Numb said, referring to her team holding placards popping the question on behalf of her boyfriend. She said yes, so good job tiger!

On behalf of Derby Little Secrets and ThirdCoast Digest, I’d like to congratulate all the skaters on a great season. We’ll be reporting on the travel teams bouts (including their two home bouts, July 18 v.s. Madison and August 29 v.s. Grand Rapids) expos, and other news and will be back in force for season four!
