Lake Trout (and Yellowstone Park)
It’s important to remember that while not something you would normal consider part of the urban landscape, Lake Michigan and its vast supply of natural capital is the reason that Milwaukee exists in the first place.
Sometimes as the wind blows down Juneau Ave on my way to class on a cold January day, I wish the Lake would just disappear. Ultimately though, nothing is more worth fighting for in Milwaukee than Lake Michigan. It’s what makes Milwaukee, well Milwaukee. Without Lake Michigan, Milwaukee might as well be Janesville, Wisconsin.
